GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery is a three year and six months course in clinical nursing. All streams of plus two is accepted. Students who can’t join B. Sc Nursing due to lack of Physics, Chemistry and Biology in higher secondary can study General Nursing. six months internship is mandatory for these students. It is a base to enter nursing field. Once a student completes this course, he/she can join Post B. Sc Nursing. Then, their educational qualification will be equivalent to B.Sc Nursing. After completing Post B. Sc Nursing, students can join M. Sc Nursing.
If you had completed plus two/PUC in commerce, science or computer science streams, you can study this course and start your nursing career. This course is quite easy to study when compared to B. Sc Nursing. So, all colleges has a result almost equal to 100% in this course. Basically, this course is the easy choice and for many people, the best choice.
Students who had passed plus two/PUC in any streams with an aggregate score of 40% can apply. Some Universities/Boards may ask for English as a mandatory subject.
