Athena College of Nursing Mangalore is a unit of Athena Hospital, a Registered Society under Akshath Charitable Trust. It is a Christian Minority Educational Institution affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru. The Institution is managed by Mr R.S. Shettian as the Chairman and Mrs. Asha Shettian as the Secretary and Dr. Ashith Shettian as the Trustee. The school of nursing came into existence in 2003 with 3 years Diploma in Nursing (GNM) and a 2004 B.Sc. Nursing. Later in 2009 P.B.B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc.

The nursing program also was started. Another milestone was the start of graduate courses in Allied Health Sciences under Athena Institute of Health Sciences by starting a B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology course in the year 2017, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology, B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology & B.Sc. Imaging Technology in the year 2020 & will be starting B.Sc. Emergency & Trauma Care Technology in the year 2021.

B.Sc. Nursing in Athena College of Nursing

BSc Nursing course is a 4 Year bachelor’s degree program followed by 6 Months of Mandatory internship that trains students in areas of critical care and incorporates values necessary to become nurses and midwives. Students will take part in classroom study, projects and assignments during the course.

Eligibility Criteria

• The Candidate must have a minimum age limit for BSc Nursing admission 2023 is 17 years.
• The Candidates should have completed a 10+2 level of education with Physics, Biology, English, and Chemistry as core subjects.
• The minimum merit percentage requirement varies for different BSc nursing colleges.
• Apart from the minimum merit score, candidates must also have met the cut-off requirements in the qualifying entrance examinations.

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) at Athena College of Nursing

• The Candidates must have English as their compulsory subject and should have a science stream in their 12th standard. Also, they need to score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks and in English separately in their qualifying exam.
• The candidate must be a 10+2 pass out with English as the compulsory subject and must have secured 40% in aggregate in Vocational ANM course from any Indian Nursing Council-recognized institute.

B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology in Athena College of Nursing

B.Sc. in Renal Dialysis Technology is a 3- year undergraduate degree in engineering. Candidates with a +2 (Medical) or equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for the course. The course is designed to prepare students to administer haemodialysis treatments for patients with renal failure, under the supervision of a nurse or physician.

Eligibility Criteria

• The Candidate must have learned Physics, Biology and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks from a recognized board/university.

B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology in Athena College of Nursing

B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology Course provided at Athena College of Nursing is 3 years. This is a full-time degree course and to pursue this course every student must complete their 12th final year examination or any equivalent examination in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects from any recognized board.

• The Candidate must complete the 12th /higher secondary final examination in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.

Passed Two-year Pre-University examination/PDC/10+2 or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects. (40% for SC/ST candidates).

The Vocational Higher Secondary Education course was conducted by Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala with 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects.

The minimum age for admission will be 17 years at the time of admission. Should be medically fit.
