Bachelor of Physiotherapy or BPT is a four-year professional science-based degree course. It is the study of physical movements and it’s used to treat physical disability and diseases of movement. Physiotherapy can also prevent physical disabilities. It is an allied health profession that helps people increase, maintain or restore their physical mobility, function, and strength. Students who have completed their 10 +2 education with science as their major subject are eligible to apply. And the candidate should have pursued the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their main subjects. A Minimum score of 50% or equivalent at the 10+2 level is mandatory for admission. After that, some universities in India conduct an entrance exam too.

Orthopaedic physiotherapy refers to a way of treatment of injuries and disorders related to the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints and ligaments. The conditions that can be treated by orthopaedic physiotherapy are- ligament strain, sprain or tear, osteoporosis, rheumatoid, spondylolysis, fracture rehabilitation, scoliosis and surgical rehabilitation of hip, shoulder, knee and foot/ ankle. If you are undergoing any of the mentioned conditions, pre-operative physiotherapy will help you strengthen physically and cardiovascularly. It helps in quick recovery after the surgery.
Neurological Physiotherapy is a specialist area of physiotherapy which can often be seen in private practice. It focuses on the treatment of individuals with neurological conditions and disorders that impact the functioning of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
Physiotherapists who work in the field of paediatrics provide support and treatment services to the paediatric population. They understand well that children are very different from adults. These health professionals have a good understanding of typical Child Development and how this relates to body systems and functions.
While paediatric physiotherapists use many of the generic skills of physiotherapy, they use further skills and training within the field of development and growth to treat infants through to teenagers
Geriatric Physical Therapy covers a wide area of problems concerning the elderly. There are many conditions that affect people as they grow older and include but are not limited to the following: arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, hip and joint replacement, balance disorders incontinence, etc. Geriatric physical therapists specialize in providing therapy for such conditions and ailments.
