Hostel

The College is a youthful vibrant and colourful campus. With exceptionally well-appointed student housing, manicured lawns, playgrounds, gymnasiums and restaurants, the campus is agog with student life and activity. Student housing is secure and well-supervised. Designated study areas, air-conditioned classrooms and small group discussion areas add value to learning.

There are separate hostel facilities for both men and women students, with 500 single rooms available inside the campus to accommodate undergraduate and postgraduate students in medical and other disciplines. The campus has a continuous running soft water supply and power supply. The avenues of trees and green plants give a resort-like ambience which is highly conducive to pleasant learning and peaceful living within the campus.

Candidates who have come from out of station live in this hostel and never regret it because the hostel is perfect when service is considered. Every room provides complete comfort and hygenic and tasty foods are provided for the students. There are 5 hostel buildings in this college out of which 3 buildings are for girls and 2 are for UG and PG boys and there is one CRRI quarter for boys.

Clinical Facilities of Meenakshi Medical College

The College and Hospital Complex located in an area of 39.08acres, ideally located with salubrious surroundings. It is provided with state of art infrastructure in terms of its blocks of buildings, which include cosy, comfortable and well-furnished departments, laboratories, classrooms for students, separate quarters for staff and nurses besides equipment of the latest technological quality.

At present, the hospital has 1,200 teaching beds with states of art operation theatres. Besides, there are intensive care beds with 24 hours hi-tech trauma care facilities, serving a wide cross-section of the community, belonging to every economic segment of society. The institution is backed by highly qualified and experienced staff, well-equipped laboratories, a library and modern teaching aids.

Library

The college library with a total collection of about 102530 books and 47 Journals/Magazines is catering to the academic needs of the students and faculty. To cater for the need of the visually challenged, the library has been further equipped with JAWS software, a scanner and a Braille printer to provide IT-based services to Visually Impaired students and faculty members. The Library is computerized through Integrated Library Management Software and also Wi-Fi enabled.

The Library committee is functioning as the statutory body of the library. The Convener of the Library Committee is elected by the Staff Council for the tenure of one year and the Librarian is an ex-officio member of the Library Committee. Teacher-in-charge/Nominee of each department has a member of the Library Committee.

Sports and Games

The activities, organized by the Students’ Association with elected governing bodies, ranging from social service to sports and games to music, cultural events and religious activities. A large playground for athletics, football, hockey and cricket is located at one end of the campus. There are two state-of-the-art outdoor basketball courts and basketball continues to be one of the most popular games on campus.

Volleyball courts, indoor shuttle courts and two tennis courts are also available. The college Conducts Annual sports and games for students and staff in addition to an annual intercollegiate games festival and several friendly staff-student matches. The Republic Day Marathon has become a hugely popular event attended by participants from all sections of the Institution and well-wishers from outside. The proceeds from the marathon go towards a charitable cause identified for the year.

Courses

The college offers under Graduates courses in medicine (M.B.B.S.), postgraduate degrees (M.D/M.S) in 19 medical disciplines and super speciality courses (M.Ch/DM) in 4 disciplines. The sanctioned annual intake to the M.B.B.S. programme is 250 students. Furthermore, The College offers Nursing and Allied Health Science courses to the students
