BSc Nursing course is a 4-year bachelor’s degree program provided at Zulekha Nursing College trains students in areas of critical care and incorporates values necessary to become nurses. The undergraduate program is of 4 years duration followed by six months of mandatory internship. Students will take part in classroom study, projects and assignments during the course.

Eligibility Criteria

• The Students should have a minimum age limit for BSc Nursing admission 2023 is 17 years.
• The Student should have completed a 10+2 level of education with Physics, Biology, English, and Chemistry as core subjects.
• The minimum merit percentage requirement of students varies from different BSc nursing colleges.

The college has affiliated with Yenepoya Medical College Hospital having 1050 beds with multispecialty facilities such as Medical, Surgical, Paediatrics, Orthopedic, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Nephrology, ENT, Oncology & Psychiatry. Admission Procedure

The Admission procedure of Zulekha Nursing College is given as follows :

• The Candidate should pass the two-year Pre University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with Science subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
• The Candidate should obtain at least 45% of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination. If belonging to a Scheduled Castes or a Scheduled Tribe, should have obtained not less than 40% of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination.
• The Students of Vocational courses: 10+2 vocational course of State Government of Kerala with 4 subjects including Physics, Chemistry,
• Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects conducted are considered equivalent to +2 Examination / Karnataka Pre-University course from the academic year 2005-06 onwards. Marks obtained by the candidate in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are to be considered for assessing the eligibility as per the ordinances governing the Basic B.Sc Nursing course of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences vide Notification.
• The candidate shall have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete this age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

Library

Zulekha Nursing College has a separate library with a size of 2500 sqft. The seating capacity of the library is 100 seats and equipped with around 2500 professional books. Journals of both Indian and international are available. Furthermore, students can access and refer to the books & journals by using a library Card. Helinet facilities are also available for both students and faculty. Besides, Students are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the library.

Zulekha College of Nursing Laboratory

The college has well-equipped laboratories to practice nursing subjects through demonstrations such as Procedures on Nursing foundation & Medical-surgical Nursing, Nutrition, Maternal, and Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and computer. In addition, for better learning purposes students get postings in hospital laboratories.

Health Care

Zulekha College maintains the health records of every student. Students requiring medical consultation/treatment should inform to warden and hostel in charge. Concerned students will be accompanied by the warden to our hospital for the treatment. The students must get the entry of clinical details including prescribed treatment by the physician on the health record. College is not responsible for the treatment of pre-existing illnesses detected during medical check-ups and illnesses due to negligence on duty or outside duty hours.

Hostel

Hostel accommodation is compulsory for students. Wardens are appointed to help/supervise students in the Hostel. Mess facilities (both Veg. & Non-Veg.) are also available. Each student should remit the hostel rent & Mess fees as per notified schedule. Discipline in the hostel & mess is equally important. Each one should take care of their valuables/ money. The authorities are not responsible for the loss of valuables/money. Likewise, Only final-year students are permitted to go out from the hostel for two days a week Wednesday 4:30-5:30 pm & Sunday 9:00-4:00 pm only after getting permission from the Principal. Students should return to the hostel within the permitted time

Faculties

The faculty is well qualified with a master’s degree in nursing and have enough experience in teaching to handle all the speciality subjects and train them to be clinically competent to provide quality care. The college has appointed well-qualified faculty to teach all nonnursing subjects. Tutors /clinical instructors are available with B.Sc.(N) qualifications to supervise the students in the clinical setting.
