BA Journalism and Mass Communication is a three year degree course. It creates social insight in students to take information to common people. Hence, it is a course with social responsibility. These students deals with fields such as public sector, movies, music, sports and other issues. In old days, they used newspapers and tv. Now they use social media, youtube and other platforms too. So, technical skills are also needed. This field always rely on truth and transparency.
Major subjects included in this course are Communication Theories and Models, Public Relations, Design and Graphics, Digital Media, Reporting and Editing for Print Media, Radio Production, Data Journalism, Photo-Journalism, Event Management, and Media Law and Ethics.
The program also offers choices for various elective courses like Entrepreneur Development, Business Communication, Foreign Language (French or German), Human Resource Development, Socio-cultural History of India, Organisational Behaviour, Fashion Communication, and Leadership Development and Team Building.
Course modules include seminars, computer-based learning, guest lectures, workshops, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), industry certification-training, and numerous individual and group project works such as live projects, incubation projects, community projects, and projects with NGOs.
Students who has 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks are eligible for BA Journalism and Mass Communication.
Basically, Students can work in various sectors such as media, fashion, legal and digital. Their job positions will be feature writer, photojournalist, teacher, Public relations officer etc.
