Kempegowda Institute of Nursing Bangalore is an Integral part of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science and Research Center Bangalore (KIMS). The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science and Research Center (KIMS) was established in the year 1980.
Kempegowda Institute of Nursing Bangalore is affillated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. The college has approved by Government of Karnataka and Recognized by Indian Nursing Council and Karnataka State Nursing Council. The college provides experienced teaching faculty of basic sciences from V.V.Puram Science College will ensure academic excellence with relevant skill based training. The Kempegowda Medical College hospital has the bed strength of 1040 and busy OPDs. Nursing students are bound to get adequate hands on training in various courses, which will empower them with required skill.
There are five buses including one mini bus and two Maruthi vans available for Transportation of students to and from Banashankari campus to the Hospital premises and to transport them to various training centres.
The college has a fully equipped health club with a 10 Station Multi-Gym, two TreadMills and Steppers and a Trained Instructor. The Health Club is open to all students of KIMS from 6:00AM to 8:00PM. Indoor Games like Chess, Carrom and Table tennis are also available. The New Sports Complex coming up will house two Synthetic Tennis Courts, Basketball and Volleyball Courts and an Amphitheatre.
There are two separate hostels at present, one for the boys and another for the girls. The boys and girls hostels are located in the Institute campus at Banashankari and can accommodate about 200 students each. Student Welfare Officers and Wardens are always available to students and interns to lend a patient ear to all their problems related to curricular activities and to provide suitable remedies. The rooms well furnished and each room accommodates 2 – 3 persons. The hostel has mess facilities serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
The hostel provides a round the clock vigil provided through a professional security agency and the visitors are screened and allowed inside. There is a manager in the hostel to attend to the problems of the inmates. There is a general control and discipline in the hostel and the inmates are not allowed to be away unauthorisedly in the night hours. The current monthly charge per person is about Rs.2,000/- which includes food and accommodation. At the time of admission, an amount of Rs. 27,500/- is charged, of which Rs.15,000/- is refundable at the time of leaving the hostel. A Senior Professor is the Warden and he is responsible for the day to day administration.
