Description

BSc Optometry is a three year undergraduate paramedical course. It deals with eye related diseases and disorders and hospital procedures. Basically, these candidates can assist eye doctors and work in optical stores. Optometry has subjects like general physiology and ocular physiology, hospital procedures, low vision aids, geometrical optics, nutrition etc. Candidates can find jobs in Contact lens & ophthalmic lens industry, eye clinics, health consultancies, lens manufacturing units, optician showrooms, multinational companies dealing with eye care products, etc.

In general, the course provides an extensive training and medical knowledge about the human eye. Moreover, students will gain knowledge about the basics of eye and various equipments used in treating eye diseases and disorders.

Even though the course duration is three years. There will a compulsory internship of 6 to 12 months. The students after graduating can become adept professionals through hands-on training and regular field visits up skilling them in optometric practices, aspects of clinical optometry contact lenses paediatric optometry and binocular vision eye diseases and treatments.

Eligibility

Students needs physics, chemistry and biology in 10+2. Also, they need 45 to 50% marks too.
